Content
For official course catalogue information check the Course Catalogue (available from june). Below you can find a description of the course contents.
International Exchange week
During the international week the student get the chance to see the work field in a broader perspective. Together with 2 partner University colleges, an international carousel will be set up whereby students from the three institutions can change institutions for one week so that an international class room is formed at 3 locations. In terms of content, the three locations will work around a new trend within the professional field in the country concerned. The content can be applied via various teaching methods (lectures, workshops, company visits, short-term research, ...). During this exchange you work both on content/technical competences but also on your international competences. Incoming erasmusstudents will follow the international week at the PXL-campus.
In addition to this field trip, the international student will get the task to make an essay about a subject related to the international field trip.
Bachelor Project in greenery management
Students make a bachelor thesis in the field of their choice: design and management of public space OR Nature- & Forest conservation..
The bachelor project is taking place in the real field of work. The student is getting a realistic assignment, that is given by an organisation, an institution, an industry,…
An important objective is that a student learns to work individual and to solve a problem. The student has to analyse the problem, search for different solutions and work out a plan. The student needs to collect knowledge in different ways, brings this knowledge and the results of their practical work together and is having to make a report/paper where they will describe the whole project.
In this bachelor project, practical work is always combined with a theoretical background on the subject
Field study in ecology and environment
During this course, typical theoretical concepts of the associated Ecology and Environment courses – such as vegetation survey, nutrient cycles and ecosystem functioning – are applied in a case study. The gained competences are used to individually solve a practical field exercise and present these results in a scientific report. The course encompasses both field work at the study site and processing of the results at the campus. At both locations, supervision will be present.
